About Lisette Hart

My teaching style incorporates inspiration from many years of studying Ashtanga and various other wonderful styles of yoga including 10 years of Anusara Yoga, Kripalu, Freedom Yoga, Power & Vinyasa & more. My Yoga Basics & Yoga Flow have a moderate to active pace with some challenges and a deluxe relaxation. Yoga Challenge adds more progress on the wilder poses, fun challenges and cardiovascular strengthening. Come experience it for yourself, you'll be glad you did!

After creating and running Vista, California’s first yoga studio from 2001-2006, I sold the studio to spend more time with my new baby son and husband.  I now have a daughter, Leonie, born in April 2008 and Wilson is not a baby anymore!I am honored to serve my students, fellow teachers and community as the Owner & Director of Yoga Branch Studio located at 1241 East Vista Way in Vista, CA. I am now accepting applicants to be student teachers in my Annual Yoga Alliance Registered School "Roots and Wings Yoga" Teacher Training there.

My Inspirations

 The Hart Family: Coby, Lisette & Wilson

Tim Miller
Ashtanga Yoga Master in Encinitas, California. He was the first American certified to teach Ashtanga yoga by his beloved Guruji, Sri Pattabi Jois.  I am grateful & honored to have completed his Ashtanga Teacher Training in 2001 and I will always be his student.

Mary Cavanaugh
Certified by Indra Devi, Mary was my friend and mentor until she passed away in 2005.  She was a pioneer in developing Chair Yoga and together we created Chair and Gentle yoga programs at my studio from 2001-2005.  She did headstands and power yoga well into her 80’s.  As a minister, she performed the wedding ceremony for my husband and I.
Mary lives on in my heart & my teaching every day.  Her videos are at: or

Geo Takoma
Certified by Indra Devi, Geo is an author, Vietnam war veteran & legendary Orange County power yoga teacher.  He and his multi-talented wife Katresha now run a retreat, healing and yoga center.  They have positively influenced my life and teaching in countless ways.  Geo’s Power yoga has brought strength to my body and practice since meeting him in 2000.

Betsey Downing, PH.D.
Certified Anusara Teacher in Sarasota Florida. I did my Anusara Yoga Teacher Training with her in Utah in 2002 and consider her my mentor. She has inspired me to go beyond my self-imposed imaginary boundaries. Every class I have taken with her has made me cry, laugh and grow.
 I continue to be her devoted student.

John Friend
Founder of Anusara Yoga. A Master Yogi and former Certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher, John has studied with BKS Iyengar and all the best of the rest.  He brought decades of his inspirations and understanding together to create Anusara Yoga in 1997.  I have been studying Yoga and therapeutics with John since 2001 all over the USA & Canada and am recognized by him as an Anusara-Inspired teacher.  His universal principles of alignment have helped restore strength and mobility to my injured neck and I feel his influence every time I teach.

Other Inspirations:
Erich Schiffmann, Rod Stryker, Roger Cole & many local teachers, colleagues, friends & students in my Southern California and Canadian Yoga communities.

Thank you to my professors in the Political Science and Education Departments of the University of Windsor.
Gratitude to my international hosts while I lived and traveled in Indonesia, Japan & Europe.

Music, cooking, reading & hiking inspire me.
I am intrigued by my family history and stories of our ancestors. Thanks to my husbands relatives in Utah for their leadership in my genealogical research that has led me back to my family roots in the 1500’s in France.  Merci Pepe for poetry, the mandolin, euchre & Leonard Cohen signing in French.  My Grandmother Claire for her ultimate strength & will to survive despite all.

My sanctuary is the lake, woods, family and community in Muskoka, Ontario.
Thank you to my mother Barbara Daignault who taught special education for 45 years and remained fascinated by each student. My father Moe who listened.  My sisters; Nicole Daignault, an inspiring Yoga teacher since her studies in India in 1998-99 and Michele Daignault, Founder of Bandha Yoga Apparel

Last but not least, my husband Coby and 2 kids, Wilson and Leonie.  Our time together in our home and in the beauty of nature is the most fulfilling love I’ve ever known.

To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people
And the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation
Of honest critics
And endure the betrayal
Of false friends;

To appreciate beauty,
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better
Whether by a healthy child,
A garden patch,
Or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life had breathed easier Because you have lived.
That is to have succeeded.
